Courageous Healthcare Leaders Retreat

This retreat is designed for doctors, advanced practice providers, nurses, and other frontline caregivers and healthcare leaders who want to increase their capacity for leading a wholehearted life and clinical practice.

During this retreat, expert facilitators will provide sessions inspired by the Center for Courage & Renewal and Brené Brown’s, The Daring Way™ programs, as well as research from other thought leaders in burnout prevention and resilience. During the process we explore the thoughts and behaviors that hold us back and we identify the new choices and practices that will move us toward more authentic and wholehearted living. The sessions will be interactive, fun, and insightful. We’ll work hard, be challenged, and leave feeling ready to take on new challenges.

We begin each day with an early morning reflective practice followed by a hearty breakfast before the day’s adventure unfolds. Coming together in large and small group sessions, you will have the opportunity to work with classic teachings, poetry and personal stories to reflect on your own experiences as healers, teachers and leaders. In a trusted community of colleagues, you will find a safe space to examine important questions about your work, the role that work plays in your life, and your role in your organization.

In the early evening we will have the opportunity to meet for a social hour and daily debriefing as we rejuvenate our mind and soul before enjoying a lovely dinner. Each day will be topped off with a discussion on resilience and how to reawaken joy, meaning and purpose in your life.

Resilience in Guatemala 2020

This trip will deepen your understanding of the challenges and opportunities that face people living in a third world country. Each day you will given the opportunity to do hands-on work to help the people of Guatemala. Over the course of the trip you will begin to realize that by helping the people of Guatemala, you are actually awakening your inner needs and opening your heart to new insights and possibilities.

You will have ample time to develop your own gratitude for the wonderful opportunities you have been given and be amazed at the spirit and resilience of the Guatemalan people… people who according to our standards have very little, yet have so much to teach anyone of us about the role that social connection and gratitude play in our own happiness.

Resilience in the Black Hills of South Dakota 2020

Seek out experiences that give you goosebumps.” This advice highlights the importance that experiencing awe has on our creative thinking, improved health, and increased social connection.  This awe inspiring retreat, meant to use our daily experiences with the awe in the stunning vistas of the Black Hills of South Dakota, will rejuvenate and revitalize our mind, body, and spirit like no other experience.

During this adventure, expert facilitators will provide daily inspirational sessions inspired by the Center for Courage & Renewal and Brené Brown’s The Daring Way™ programs, as well as research from other thought leaders in burnout prevention and resilience. During the retreat we explore the thoughts, emotions, and behaviors that are holding us back and we identify the new choices and practices that will move us toward more authentic and wholehearted living. The sessions will be interactive, fun, and insightful. We’ll work hard, be challenged, and leave feeling ready to take on new challenges.

We will hike beautiful trails through the Badlands National Park, Spearfish Canyon, Custer State Park and spend a day hiking part of the Mickelson Trail which runs over 100 miles through the Black Hills.  We end our trip with a hike around Mount Rushmore, a drive through Needles Highway and will see the stunning framed vistas of Mount Rushmore that the Iron Mountain Road highlights. The entire retreat will be capped off with profound gratitude exercise

In the early evening we will have the opportunity to meet for a social hour, daily debriefing and presentations as we rejuvenate our mind, soul and trekking legs before enjoying lovely dinners. Each day will be topped off with a discussion on resilience and how to reawaken joy, meaning and purpose in your life. No matter what your level of fitness or resilience experience you are welcome on this active retreat.

Rapid City, SD is the closest major city to the awe inspiring Black Hills.  We will stay in the historic hotel Alex Johnson in downtown Rapid City the first night of our trip.  Travelers may arrive in Rapid City anytime on Sunday, June 21 as we will depart early morning, Monday, June 22.

This pilgrimage is a time to reconnect with your inner needs and develop resilience techniques to bounce forward when faced with challenges. This trip will deepen your understanding about life transitions and help provide direction through an inspiring walk in the beauty of northern Spain’s stunning vistas.

During this Daring Camino adventure, expert facilitators will provide daily inspirational sessions drawn from Brené Brown’s The Daring Way™ and Rising Strong programs, as well as research from other thought leaders in burnout prevention and resilience. During the retreat we will examine the thoughts, emotions, and behaviors that are holding us back and we identify the new choices and practices that will move us toward more authentic and wholehearted living. The sessions will be interactive, fun, and insightful. We’ll work hard, be challenged, and leave feeling ready to take on new challenges.

This pilgrimage is at YOUR pace and has the support of our guides and a van so that you will have the ease of traveling only with a small daypack and for those who may need it, the opportunity of a helping lift along the way. You will have ample time to soak in the Spanish landscape as you walk through quiet, charming villages, forests, farmland and beaches. We will stay in beautiful restored farmhouses and small inns and enjoy their exquisite regional cuisine and wine.
